The Paparazzi

In todays world there are so many different forms of media.  So many movies, so many magazines, music videos, commercials, products, endorsements everything you name it!   So much media that more and more people are becoming famous but there becoming famous for less credible reasons and for far shorter periods of time.   But nun the less they get their 15 minutes of fame which is all I myself ever really wanted.  Someone who helps them achieve this success is the paparazzi!  The word paparazzi interestingly enough, was introduced by the Italian 1960s film "La Dolce Vita".  One of the characters in the film is a news reporter named Paparazzo (played by Walter Santesso).  The word paparazzo in Italian dialect refers to something fast and of constant movement, or even something referred to as a particular annoying noise like a mosquito, or the click of a shutter bug like on a camera.  The word paparazzi is the plural version of the word paparazzo.  Paparazzo was known for his quick unstaged candid photographs of celebrities.
The paparazzi is one of those things that celebrities love to hate.  They hate that they cant go anywhere without being followed and photographed by the paparazzi but they would be even more devastated if they weren't followed or payed attention to at all!  Oh darn I have to sign off for the time being I think I'm being tracked by the paparazzi!

Cell Phones!

Yet another iconic pop symbol from saved by the bell was Zack's big-honkin dinosaur cell phone.  Unfortunately I know all about cell phones too.  The first cell phone actually came out in the year 1983 and it was called the Motorola_Dyna8000X.  It weighed 16 ounces and was priced at $3,500.00.  When it was fully charged it only had the capacity to hold about 40 minutes of talk time and about 4 hours of standby time.  It took 7 years before there were a million subscribers in the U.S.A. ..........meaning it was 1990 -yes thats right exactly when Zack Morris hit the scene at bayside high.  Although it was 7 years later the price still ranged from $2,000 and up.  So yet again another unrealistic portrayal of the average teenager!  God Zack had it all!

This is a picture of the first cell phone and the inventor "Martin Cooper"

Tough luck Daddy-O - Pog is Too Hip For You!

Does anyone remember Pogs?  Why the hell did we ever stop playing them?  I mean sure they were the earliest forms of gambling for kids, along with marbles and X-men trading cards - but it was all in good fun right?
For those of you who don't remember Pogs or h
avn't had the satisfaction of playing Pogs allow me to educate you:  Pogs is a game that was popular in the early 1990s.  The word "Pog" also refers to the discs used to play the game(slammers).  The name originates from POG, a popular brand of juice.  Back in the 1930s before they had disposable plastic bottles, juice, milk and other such beverages came in glass bottles - where a round circular cap was found under the lid designed to keep the bottle sealed. The use of Pog bottle caps to play the game pre-dated the game's commercialization; The game of Pogs originated in Hawaii during the borring 1930s when kids didn't have anything else to do except play with bottle caps.
I still have all my pogs that I collected from w
ay back in 1995 so if anyone is ever up for a game - Slammer Jammer on down cause this Pog kid is back in town!

Here are some of my Pogs:

What's your favourite episode?

Zack_Attakk

My name "Zack_Attakk" is inspired by my favourite Saved By The Bell episode "The Rockumentary"......where in this episode Zack and the gang form a music group called "Zack Attakk" and they take the world by storm!  I often like to be referred to as Zack because he is the ultimate teen-pop culture icon.  Don't get me wrong I love every single character in Saved By The Bell, each one has a special place in my heart - even the extras.........but contrare to popular belief, A.C. Slater is actually my favourite member of the cast.  I like Mario Lopez the best because he is the most like his Saved by the Bell character "Slater" in real life than any of the other cast members.  I feel this way based of coarse on what I've seen of him on T.V. in magazines and in the general public eye as I havn't got to meet him in person yet!  He always has a pumped positive attitude towards everything - he's a jock who like's to get down on the dance floor - just like me lol!  He's one of the greatest role-models of all time!

Wanna get into shape?  Then be sure to check out Mario's
 latest book "Knockout Fitness"

I'm so excited, and I just cant fight it!

Many people don't realize it, but the most popular, widely used drug on the market is actually caffeine.  Saved By The Bell always had our best interests in mind, and always knew what important issues to warn us about, and thanks to Jessie Spano, we now know the danger of caffeine in the form of a pill.  Don't be embarrassed if you have indulged in this devastating drug, I myself have been there too.   But thanks to Jessie Spano I was able to break away from my addiction to Wake-Ups before it was too late, as I hope all of you will too.  We've all seen their horrifying effects, how they can cause someone to black out for hours, completely forget they took Dewey's midterm, and miss the most important performance of their group, Hot Sundae, that night at The Max.  One of the greatest moments in pop, or should I say world history, was when Jessie in a caffeine roid-rage, sang/screamed those iconic words "I'm so excited, I'm so Excited, I'm so scared.....as she fell into Zack's arms.  Sadly, Hot Sundae never made it mainstream.  But more importantly, millions of teenagers learned not to tamper with caffeine pills.  Forget marijuana, caffeine pills are the real "gate-way" drug.  Jessie's life seemed back to normal for a little while at least......until she was rejected by Harvard University, and then lost Valedictorian to Screech, and then found herself at none other than Surf-University with Zack.....she dropped out of University after her first semester and was last seen trying to make ends meet by stripping in Las Vegas.  And it all started with those dam pills!

Saved By The Bell

One of my earliest pop obsessions was the hit show of the 90's "Saved By The Bell"(Hence my name "Zack_Attakk)  It is also probably one of the reasons why I will never truly be satisfied with my own life because I always believed I was gonna be on Saved By The Bell the new class, but the show ended up being cancelled before I was of age to audition.
When your in daycare you want to be in kindergarton.....when your in kindergarton you want to be in elementary school......when your in elementary school you want to be in junior high.......when your in junior high you want to be in high school.......when your in high school you want to be in college......when your in college you want to be in university......when your in university you want to have a career.....when you have a career you just want to be a kid again.  Why do we always want things to be different instead of just enjoying the moment and going with the flow?  Probably because we are always bombarded with images and ideas oh how great certain ages or steps in life are, or how they are suppost to be.  Saved by the Bell was one of those shows that captured this ideal image or idea of how highschool was suppost to be or how teenage life was suppost to be in a crazy comical way.  That is why I love every minute of Saved By The Bell and will never truly get enough of it! The bright colors, the pep rallys, the mascots, the cheerleaders, the malt shop hangout, the classic stereotypes like the Jocks, the Nerds, the Browners, the Pretty Girls, and then of coarse the guy that everyone can relate to Zack Morris! It was just a magical show that has truly passed the test of time, as it seems to be even more popular today than when it first started back in 1988!  I think the reason for Saved by the Bell's success is that it didn't care about being a little sappy or a little cheesy it just went for it.  Good wholesome loveable characters with a zest for life....I'm getting tingly all over just thinking about them!   Saved By The Bell is the best show ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
